Determination of fabric abrasion resistance by abrasion resistance Tester

Introduction
Abrasion is just one aspect of wear and is the rubbing away of the component fibres and yarns of the fabric. It is a series of repeated applications of stress; therefore a capacity to absorb punishment is required to the fibres. Inherent fibre properties such as work of rupture may give a high resistance to abrasion.

Types of seam:

There may be hundreds of types of seams. but mainly 8 types of seams are used in garments making which are as follows:

1) Class-1: super imposed seam

2) Class-2: lapped seam

3) Class-3: bound seam

In business and engineering, new product development (NPD) is the term used to describe the complete process of bringing a new product to market. A product is a set of benefits offered for exchange and can be tangible (that is, something physical you can touch) or intangible (like a service, experience, or belief). There are two parallel paths involved in the NPD process: one involves the idea generation, product design and detail engineering; the other involves market research and marketing analysis. Companies typically see new product development as the first stage in generating and commercializing new products within the overall strategic process of product life cycle management used to maintain or grow their market share.

Introduction

Textile printing is the process of applying color to fabric in definite patterns or designs.
In properly printed fabrics the color is bonded with the fiber, so as to resist washing and friction.
Textile printing is related to dyeing but, whereas in dyeing proper the whole fabric is uniformly covered with one color, in printing one or more colors are applied to it in certain parts only, and in sharply defined patterns.

Brief History:

Embroidery is the art or handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread or yarn. In this way, it has been practiced for decades. In Siberia, around 5000 and 6000 B.C. elaborately drilled shells stitched with decorative designs onto animal hides were discovered. Chinese thread embroidery dates back to 3500 B.C. where pictures depict embroidery of clothing with silk thread, precious stones and pearls. Examples of surviving Chinese chain stitch embroidery worked in silk thread have also been found and dated to the Warring States period (5th-3rd century BC).

History of Microfibers:

Japanese fibre manufacturing companies introduced the first ‘micro-denier’ products during the 1970s. Then followed the developments in Europe during the 1980s, and since the 1990s American fibre manufacturers have been following suit. At present, polyester and nylon are generally used for manufacturing microfibres. However, ‘micro-denier’ versions of rayon and acrylic products are on the horizon. For as long as microfibre technology has been around, ultra-microfibre technology has existed as well. These are fibres that are less than 0.3dtex, and especially within the range of 0.1dtex. Several different processes can be used to make these fibres, all involving the splitting of a larger fiber into many smaller ones.

Introduction:

Consumption of garments is an essential part for offering price to the buyer. Not only for price offering but also essential for amount of booking to the suppliers. How many trimmings & accessories are required & how much fabric is required for the production of that particular style it is calculated by the costing. For booking to the suppliers cost analysis should be done, otherwise the benefits of that particular order will not be clear to the manufacturer.

Bleach wash:

This in one an important step in washing denim & can be done by various bleaching agents
a. Calcium hypo chlorite
b. Sodium hypo chlorite
c. Hydrogen peroxide
d. Potassium permanganate

First two chemicals are commonly being used for every medium to vintage denim but when it comes to super vintage & light shade its advisable to use potassium permanganate bleach to cut the color faster till half way & then neutralize it & go with Liquid ( Hypo ) bleach to adjust the desired shade. This process helps to get Greyer cast & also protects the lycra/spandex , retain elasticity.

Acid wash

Acid wash denim soared in popularity during the 1980s before dying out only to re-emerge, as a retro look, in the early 2000s. Despite the name, these splotch-faded denim products didn't get the look from a bath of acid. Instead, the jeans earned their distinctive look when manufacturers first stripped the denim of its resin finish then applied chlorine to remove the indigo that gives classic denim its traditional blue hue. The result Denim light in color with white splotches where the chlorine acted more aggressively.

Mustaches or whiskers are one of the most important design of a used look garment. The idea of whiskers is taken form the worn out lines and impression patterns generated by natural wearing on hips and front thigh area. On old jeans, a number of patterns can be find consequential to fabric, body shape of user or sitting posture.

Roles of Merchandiser in Merchandising profession

Concept Of Merchandising

Introduction:

Merchandising is a global process through which products are produced, sourced, and sold all over the world. Merchandisers must have leadership for the value chain (developing, distributing, and selling products) in a global market. Merchandisers need to see "the whole process" from product innovation through consumer satisfaction. This requires logical thought processes such as problem solving, decision-making, and resource management. It is a critical need for merchandisers at SFIL, which has strong business background, yet it also stays focused on fashion or other products that undergo continuous change in the consumer-driven market.
